Speaking of feeding, you'll need to do that regularly, since many vampire skills depend on "blood points." At this point in development, they're going with using a set amount of points towards a skill that will last for a set amount of time, although they're also considering a "steady drain" method. When not in a Masquerade area, the icon will be a pistol. You'll be able to break the rules a few times, but it will make things tougher for you, and people will come after you. You can't cast flashy spells, run through crowds of people at superhuman speeds-or feed. With the current interface, Masquerade areas of the game are flagged with an icon in the upper right-hand corner. You have the Masquerade to consider, the art of making sure humans aren't really aware of the vampire civilization right under their noses. I wouldn't recommend that, though, because he's important to some powerful people, namely the prince, who's bidding you will be doing-for a time, at least.Īnd whacking people in general isn't something you can do willy-nilly like in Grand Theft Auto. You can be politely inquisitive, sarcastic and bored, or you can just whack him. While going through the conversation, you'll get dialogue choices that allow you to role-play a demeanor-like in Fallout-and how you talk to him will have an effect on how he deals with you later. But he's been beaten up badly, apparently a victim of a deal gone wrong, and he needs your help.

He's about sixty years old, but he looks about in his mid-thirties. The opening scene we were shown (and featured in one of the gameplay clips) takes you into an apartment where you'll meet Mercurio, a human who does favors for the clans in exchange for vampire blood that allows him to live longer. You'll start out as a fledgling vampire, recently "embraced." Your powers are minimal, but you will already be stronger and faster than the average human. There are also no console plans for this game, which should help it avoid the "streamlining" that's apparently proved troublesome with recent multi-platform RPGs. It also turns out that Bloodlines has not actually been delayed until Spring 2005, although it has still been pushed back a bit to Fall of this year. So those who already play the pen-and-paper version might want to take a look at this bad boy.

Like with Knights of the Old Republic, the events in Bloodlines are going to be added to the official White Wolf game history, we're told. You'll also only be able to align with one of the seven "good" Camarilla clans, while the "evil" Sabbat will be the enemy. While Redemption was a global dungeon crawl, Bloodlines takes place in a John Carpenter-esque Los Angeles and incorporates modern environments into gameplay.
